My mealworms turned into beatles so thought I would see if I could raise a few. But was wondering if they can be put in oatmeal or some other thing as bedding? I live remote so not easy to just run to a store to buy something. I am not trying to raise bunches just thought it would be fun to let the kids see if they can raise them. I have read care sheets and most say bran flakes but I am looking for something I might already have. Thanks Cindy
Let me get my crudload of caresheets I have searched up for mealworms. BRB Heres one: Sorry but my browser I switched so everything got deleted. http://chameleonnews.com/year2003/oct2003/.../mealworms.html http://www.practical-pet-care.com/feeder_q...004062106174097 http://www.drgecko.com/mealworms/breeding.htm http://www.geocities.com/borderviewdragons/mealworm.html Oh and breeding these things takes time. but it is fun. Gives you a nice feel.
Mealworm darkling beetles thrive in bran. They lay eggs there so try not to shake or move any bran. If beetles are on there back try your best to get around all the others and get him up. Or it may die. Mealworm babies are super small. So do not expect to see any for along time.
hey Hotdoggy Dan, wat about oatmeal? ive raised mine on oatmeal is that bad? WEll, the oatmeal is actually called old fashioned oats but is that bad?
