sav's become obese real easily and always seem hungry, you should feed them 2 rat pups or 2 large mice 2x a week and give them crickets or roaches 3x a week also. with the insects you feed them as much as they will eat in a 15min period and remove the rest.

at that size they should be eating 1 to 2 dozen crickets each daily, up til they are about 2 ft long the best thing from there is to feed them roaches and LOW fat foods. dust crickets and roaches twice a week with calcium and vitamin powder because crickets on theier own are just empty vessels unless they are gut loaded. ., mice and rats shouldnt be a regular meal because of digestion issues with the fur. only on occasion unless you you have access to hairless rats. monitors for the first few years are machines and will consume food daily and should. make sure the basking heat is where it should be and uvb/uva lighting is in place as this allows the monitor to digest, breakdown and use calcium efficiently , and promote good general health. also maintain heat sources at nite cuz this will better help the cause.

insects, crusteations, and molluscs should be Primary feed. Animal meat as treats or a once a month meal. Feed bugs, shrimp, crayfish, low-fat items. You can feed daily in smaller portions. Tong-feeding and target training is good. Mice, rat pups, and chicken with out fat or skin as treats. Chicken can be lightly cooked to avoid salmonilla etc
