I'm thinkin of getting a few brwon anoles and setting up a really cool enclosure. I won't be getting any for at least a month or two because I got a flying gecko today. So can you guys post some pics of your enclosures so I can start thinkin about how I want to design mine. Thanks.
This is my hex tank. I'm not sure how big...maybe a 30 gallon at most: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/bra...es/100_3816.jpg
Here are a couple of closer shots (it has been moved and slightly rearranged since the other shot). http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/bra...es/100_5291.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/bra...es/100_5292.jpg Mainly I try to make it easy for my anole to climb to the top, using drift wood pieces. There is a ledge up there near the light and that is her favorite spot. The potted plants are spider and pothos. I also use live moss, and I put shells in the water dish. I spray the plants for her to drink from, even though the water dish is there. There are a few rocks and shells on the ground as well and I use potting soil for substrate.
Yes, they do. It is a coiled fluorescent bulb, but I am looking into getting the new coiled UVB by Reptisun. My petshop doesn't carry it. A strip light would have to set on top of the plexiglass top, which would also defeat the purpose. There is a small screened area in the back where the light is, and that is where she likes it best. Nice setups Lane and Retnuh.
Thanks for the pics so far and I have a question. Will noles do ok i a plywood enclosure if it is sealed very well.
You are welcome. I don't really know about the plywood...it would absorb the moisture. You would have to do a little research on safe paints/sealants. I don't know why it couldn't work...people make wooden cages for herps all the time. You just want to be able to clean and sanitize any enclosure. Wood absorbs all sorts of stuff. Maybe you could browse the enclosure forums for definitive answers. Like this one.
I made a wooden enclosure out of plywood for my anole and it did not hold in enough humidity. I would just go for a glass aquarium.
I'll have plenty of glass tanks soon beacuse I'll bemoving my leos into a stackable cage system and their old cages will be open.
