I currently have a male beardie and kind of want to get another lizard. I might get a female beardie and see how well they do in the same enclosure (my male only uses basically one corner) I thought about getting a basilisk (not the snake from harry potter) does anyone have a basilisk? are they good lizards to have if i like interacting with them? One last question: should i house a new female with my current male or do i have to get a new enclosure? thanks sirch
unless you plan on breeding them and hatching the eggs and going through the whole routine, i wouldn't house them together. also, each beardie needs at *least* 40 gallons of space whether you see them utilizing all that space or not. so if you housed them together you'd have to get/make a huge cage.
thanks i hadnt thought of that i might get antoher lizard in a few years new question lets say my beardie  dies should i get another beardie or is there another lizard that i can use the same enclosure for thats maybe more interactive
i dont know the exact size but i'd say somewhere around 50-60 gallons it's a glass terrarium with a wire vent on the top what type of lizards are about the same size as bearde dragon adults? (17-20") right now its a desert type habitat but i could easily change that
desert iguanas are second on my list i was thinking of getting a basilisk first and if i cant find one then ill look for a desert iguana thanks
http://www.golizards.com/inventory.htm I looked up basilisks cuz i didnt know what they where and I got this site for you...
thanks happy to help you find out what another type of lizard was i made a paper mache (sp) thingy in art that looks like a green basilisk (smile)
You could get a Jankins' Dragon which is what I have(they get a little smaller than beardys but they are related) or a Blue Tongued Skink. Both of which have pretty nice attitudes.
I like Leos but can they be handled frequently, I'm a person who bonds with my animals by holding them a lot and a local pet store told me that they could be handled only 2 or 3 times a week because of their delicate skin. I got a Rankins' Dragon instead because they said you could hold it every day without a problem. I don't think the info they gave me is true.
some times pet stores dont have their facts straight try asking an experienced expert [hehe] on this site if you can hold them a lot keep in mind they are nocturnal [hehe, beardie goes off, leo comes on]
