I have a giant butterfly lizard and he is always loosing his toe nails and he has lost some of his toes. I am not sure if it is because he is always running around or if it is because he is ill. Can anyone help?

Is it having trouble shedding it's toes/feet? That could be the problem.

His shedding is fine. He seems fine in himself and not to borthered that he has lost 3 toes but it just seems very odd.

It is more then likely cause by him trying to jump around while he still has his nails dug into the log.

    Nathan please don't.

On the subject of the lizards toes. It is still only 3 that is missing no more :( Also his nails are now growing back (think he learnt his lesson about jumping while holding on!!!).

He has just started to shed and there seems to be no problems as of yet. :(

We have one that has a toenail hanging now :( , I think he caught it on something as his blood work when it was tested was normal ranges.

I've left it alone as it does not seem to bother him and it still attached at the corner but turned sidways... I am watching it, but figured it was better to let it fall off on its own.
