I have always used the analog thermometers and read on the forum that they aren't very accurate. Is this true? Are the temps way off? I'm thinking about getting a digital. Or would I be better off getting one of those temp guns?
I would appreciate some opinions about this matter.
    Thanks!

That is correct, the analog thermometers are crap. I have personally seen them be as much as 15 degrees off.

A quality digital or a temp gun either one would be a good choice. What you want to look at before buying is the margin for error. They will say something like accuracy within +/- 2 degrees.
