I have some questions for all you boa-lovers.... Do Rosy Boas [lichanura trivirgata] make good pets? What is there temperment? (bite easily?or docile?) I am just curious about this particular boa...........
I've not kept them myself, but from what I hear they make pretty good pets. Generally handlable and mellow from what I gather.
Ok..................... I have been reading up on them................. and boa-enthusiasts online seem to really recommend this particular boa if you are aiming for a smaller snake....... I am always curious about reptiles that are a little out of the ordinary
Rosy Boas make great starter snakes! They are easy to keep, most are docile, and they tend to be good eaters. They are a desert species, that will be able to live most, if not all, of it's life in a 20 gallon aquarium.
Ok I had more questions about the Rosy Boa They seem like a nice pet, and I do live in the desert................ If you have a Rosy boa: do you take out the water bowl? do you have a female rosyboa that"gave birth" & how tiny were the babies &color&how many????
I found a few caresheets on the net. Check them out http://www.herpscope.com/desertboas/caresheet.html http://www.reptilekeeper.co.uk/rosyboas/kaplancaresheet.php http://www.kingsnake.com/boapage/caresheets/rosyboacare.html
Rosie Boas make great pets. My 5yr. old had one as his first snake. I say HAD because ours figured out how to lift the lid to his tank and escape somewhere into the house! Does anyone know what would be the best way to find him? We've turned our house upside down with no luck at all. HELP!!! He's almost 1 lbs. About 2 ft. And hasn't wanted to eat in almost 2 months.
Are the hatchlings usually good with frozen pinkies, like corn snakes? or can they be problem feeders???
It really depends on the snake but typically a rosy will have no problems taking f/t pinkies. The best thing to do is buy from a reputable breeder and ask a lot of questions.
