Need help with tank.

hey, recently bought a 40 gallon tank for my bearded dragon and it has a small beam of glass in the middle, where the lid would usually go. it doesnt cover the entire top but it makes it hard to put one screen lid over the tank. not sure what to do. please help, thanks
