help!!Who can tell my !my Savannah monitor is male or female?

    It was two years old!
    But our local pet store did not know how to discern that it is male or female
    I would be very grateful to you if someone is willing to let me know.

    Lovely Sav you have there, welcome to the forums = )

    I'm not experienced enough with monitors to know myself, but we do have some members who may be able to help you out. Here is an older thread from our site that describes the process of sexing these guys pretty well - it's apparently more difficult to do than with other herps.

    Hope that is helpful to you; in the meantime, perhaps a few additional pictures could be helpful. I know with most lizards and geckos there are traits that differentiate males from females by hemipenela bulges and/or pores at the base of the tale and vent area. Perhaps a picture of these one's underside could prove useful to those who know how to more accurately sex them?

    my guess goin off neck thickness n head shape wud be female but thats all it is a GUESS best google hemipenes n hemiclitoris pics then compare then to your savs when it defecates thats what i did

    I agree with krisee :) check for bulges at the base of its tail
