I'm looking to upgrade my RTB collection and want to build a bookcase enclosure to hold multiple snakes around these lines

what kind of heat source should i use for something like this? i fear that they would try to touch heat bulbs and get burns.
    any suggestions?

The best source for heating bookshelf type enclosures would be heat tape. I believe there are a couple different versions/manufacturers of heat tapes but the kind most widely used is called "Flexwatt" and here is a link I always keep bookmarked in case someone needs it... http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/flexwire.shtml
You can usually find it at reptile shows or you can purchase it online at a couple of different sites. Make sure you measure and know exactly how much you will need as well as getting a thermostat/rheostat, or dimmer switch for your system as well.

Good luck! If you have any other questions let us know!

I personally use heat cable on all my racks. It's similar to Flexwatt, but safer. It is more expensive though.
