    Hello All,

Been a while since I posted but after some advice.

Have had my adult savannah monitor in a custom made 6ft x 4ft x 4ft vivarium for nearly two years now.

The tank is heated with 1 x 250w ceramic bulb running on a Lucky Reptile Thermo Control II. As well as this I have a row of three 100w spot lights for a basking area on top of a hide (using retes stack based system).

With the winters getting colder over here I am looking at another method of heating the tank. Also I have converted a brick building in my garden (insulated and flooring installed) and plan to move the tank into this room so need to be sure temps are going to be good enough.

Was looking around at a more suitable heater and came across this heater.

This looks ok but again doesn't look suitable as replacement for ceramic bulb I already have fitted and will most likely have to run alongside.

What I was also wondering if anyone uses any conventional radiators such as:

    Really appreciate any thoughts!

    Cheers

Just from the descriptions I don't think that the 1st one on your list will do it (although it seems like an awesome product I don't think it will warm the whole tank well enough). The second and third are general space heaters and would possibly be a good idea for outside the tank... if you're thinking about going that route I know that over here in the states you can get something like this... its like a baseboard heater that's electric and you plug in instead of piping steam/hot water through it. That might be your best bet to warm the entire brick room that you've converted.

If you only want to heat the tank I think the last thing (the reptile heat lamp with a fan) might be your best bet... it can be easily mounted inside the tank, up high where he won't accidentally burn himself and the fan will provide hopefully enough circulation throughout so that you can keep an even temperature boost throughout the entire tank... and hopefully with minimal impact on your electric bill, lol.

Whatever you try I would keep the receipt so you could possibly return the item if it doesn't work... good luck!
