Well i hope this is helpfull in some way
well ive heard bad things about using fish or cat food. fish food because of all the slime coat stuff they put in it and cat food because there is so much stuff in there for their livers. i use dog food as a gutload sometimes if im feeling cheap. ive also been told that monkey show makes a great gutload for any feeder.
Generally dog food is seen to be better than cat food and fishfood is good for protein but as Shanna66 said theres substance in it that are not good for lizards so should be used very sparingly. Everything else sounds good though. I also use wheat, potatoe peel, wheat bran, bran flakes, crushed sunflower seeds and I've been thinking about using bee pollen for a while as I'm sure I've heard its good for gutloading... can anyone confirm this?
yea bee pollen is PERFECT gutload , its just hard to find in large enough quantities... well for me at least. but yeah its PACKED with nutrition and its dry and doesnt mold etc.
ok yeah ive heard of that before sliped my mind... ill add a (use in small portion) to those two and ill ad dog food to the list aswell. thanks
ive heard alot about this stuff im gonna have to check that out. added to the list p.s.is it possible to collect bee pollen out side...."thinking bees"...i have no fear of bees and if collecting some in jars will shake loose some pollen ill manage that way. wow that sounds goofy XD
Hmmm, it might work... I'm not sure if you'd have to get them from the bee's directly or if they store it in the hive before making the honey. Either way I wouldn't fancy annoying a colony of bee's for it lol!
lol i know what you mean! i know they carry pollen on ther furry legs,i watch them try to pollinate my plastic flowers in my hanging garden "thats a sight to see" although i dont plan on taking on more than one at a time; as they moasy on in my mom and I's garden.
Hmmm. I find using dog food and cat food actually will kill the mealworms and superworms. I've had better success feeding the mealworms and superworms plant matters like greens, veggies, and oats. They do better on them. I've reduced the amount of fatality a whole lot using plant stuff. Hope this help!
thanks for noting me on that, although ive yet to have any problems with it ill add a (minnimum) to the list also ill add greens there too. thanks!
depends on the brand of dogfood. the better brands like evo ive found kill off my super worms, but they thrived in blue dog food. also they seem to do well in some of the less great brands like purina and other big names
yeah the guy from that site skimped on one adult pair he promised but idrc. they were shipped good and he was pretty helpful, just a simple miscount
I've started using 2 more things, wheat germ and muslei! Should hopefully add some new nutrients and they're both very healthy natural foods so could definatly be used
