Well i saw a great post on RepticZone about breeding and raising silkworms.
I must say it seems easier than i thought.

After checking this out i'm going to get some eggs and chow and just hatch some eggs and raise them.
I'll feed most to my beardie but then let some develop into moths to mate and make more eggs.

    Check it out.

still too complicated and too much trial and error for me, those things are too fragile, and ONLY eat mulberry leaves/chow. so when you run out you still have to rely on an outside provider. im just going with roaches.... so much easier for feeding breeding and taking care of. they handle themselves so you dont have to play "god"

Yea, i'd use roaches if i could. But i haven't moved out yet as i'm waiting on a promotion and my dad won't let me breed roaches.

its sad how as soon as someone hears the word roaches they just think cockroaches. i think its pretty ignorant and close minded to be honest

i just lied and said they were beetles, theres sites where you can order roaches and they just list the name ex. dubia or discoid and not the word roach. you could tell your parents that and when they get there just try not to let them see them lol theres no way a tropical roach can infest your house anyway

I tell people that I am raising and feeding my geckos discoids.

    "What's a discoid?" I am regularly asked

"A tropical species of soft-shelled beetle. Can't climb, can't fly, and very nutritious" my reply

lol, my dad would never fall for it XD he would demand to see them (he loves watching my reptiles eat) and i think he would realize they look like roaches

Ha ha, my parents know what species of soft-shelled beetle I am raising in their basement . . . but other folks I've let try them, I just give them the above description.
