Hey i was just wondering if any one from the UK has made one of these 'fake rock' backgrounds and can tell me where they got the stuff from. Or can someone from other places post me a site link so I can compare products to what we have over here, thanks :)

B&Q should have most of the stuff you need, although the products may be under different brand names.

    for the sealant on top?

for attaching the polystyrene to the wood/polystyrene?

    http://www.diy.com/bq/product/product.jhtm...mp;CATID=187221

    the grout??

    http://www.diy.com/bq/product/product.jhtm...amp;CATID=95130

    the 'foam in a can'??

Can you tell me if this would all be okay for the fake rock background, thanks!! If not any chance you can see something better? Thanks!!!!!!!!! :)

The Silicone would be good for attaching to the wall of the enclosure, as well as the "grabs like nails", although you wouldn't want to cover the whole thing in the silicone, it'd get REAL expensive REAL quick, and take about a month to fully cure, hehe.

The grout looks good, and the expanding foam looks good. Once covered with the grout, it should all be good.

The tile adhesive/grout should seal it good by itself, so you shouldn't need anything on top of that. If you do want to paint over it, I'm honestly not sure what you'd use. Your best bet would be actually going down to B&Q, explain that it's for use on animal enclosure furniture, and see what they recommend - if they have no clue, just say it's for kids. Basically, if it's safe for kids to play on, put in their mouth (like the painted wooden blocks most kids have at some time in their lives), then it should be safe for animals.

So you reckon I should either get the sealant or no nails but to attach it good and that the grout should seal it enough? Hmm I may have to go in and ask! Im getting a 48 x 24 x 24 and really looking forward to making it look awesome

yeah, the grout's designed to be waterproof (wouldn't be much use in bathrooms & kitchens if it wasn't, hehe)...

So you should be ok with just that covering it.
