Male juvenile red iguana for sale. I took this guy in as a rescue (he was about 6inches long, very malnurished, and being housed in a bird cage... yes, I said a bird cage) about 6 months ago. He's now pushing 2.5' long if you include his tail and tripled his weight. I'm selling him only because I need to make more room for new rescues and he's simply getting bigger than my space allows. I just moved him into a 200ga tank, which I will gladly sell along with him for the right price. I will also send along about a 2 week supply of food and all of his cage accesories, lights, etc. He is NOT tame and is very rarely handled, but I will also send along the harness/leash that came with him for whomever wants to tackle taming this bad boy down. Please message me with any questions/offers with or without cage. I will be posting photos ASAP.
I would sell him without the cage for $100, but the tank he's in right now is worth more than that empty. I would like to get $200 for him with the tank and all acc.
Ok, just let me know. I only get online every few days so I apologize in advance if it takes me a few days to get back to you.
I don't want to butt into the convo, but she would have the ship the animal overnight to you - typically at about a $50 cost. The enclosure would have to be shipped if you had interest in it, although the shipping fee for a 200gallon aquarium would be high as the heavens even if shipped ground. I only wanted to too mention this because the OP said she can only respond every few days - perhaps another method could be employed or another price could be negotiated but that would be entirely between the OP and you. Good luck with your sale, Kayla. I wish I had the room and materials for an ig as I too am in OH - I can ask around locally for anyone who might have interest and direct them to you.
isnt a 200 gallon tank worth like $800? unless its cracked.. or maybe made out of wood or screen.. thats one hell of a deal if its an aquarium style like what im thinking of.
also, shipping for a tank that size is like $200 give or take, and overnight shipping for a live animal is about $39.99 usually Really, even at 100 + shipping, it would still be cheaper to just build your own cage. The 200 gallon is only like a fourth of the required size for a healthy full grown ig. You could build a 6'(L)x4'(D)x6'(H).. [basically a small room] enclosure out of plywood and 2x4's or even PVC pipe and plastic mesh screen for that same price if not cheaper. I highly suggest building your own enclosure, and then just sectioning off a huge portion of it so he doesn't feel overwhelmed by the large space.. and then slowly open up more of the cage as he gets older until you finally let him use the entire set-up. Be warned, iguanas are a huge commitment when it comes to the resource of space! =]
Thank you all for the shipping quotes. I would rather not ship the tank, didn't realize you were that far. It would be far more economical for you to build your own enclosure anyway as what he's in now is only going to be big enough for a few more months at most. As they stated above I would ship him to you overnight (the sooner the better so we aren't shipping during cold weather.)
Jeffreh- thank you for the offer, if you find anyone interested I will drive him pretty much anywhere within the state. Not a big fan of overnight shipping unless absolutely necessary.
yes, it's worth that much new probably. No, it's not cracked, and it IS all glass with a screen top. I'm just offering it at the price with the iggy as I don't have anything else to send him on his way with.
I'd take the thing for like 30 + the shipping, but otherwise it really wouldn't be worth the money to me since I can breed my own, but if you ever decide to move him into the adoptions thread, I'm an experienced iguana keeper of many years, not just some guy looking for a new pet. =]
thank you. he is about 12 inches from nose to base of tail... about 2.5 feet if you include the whole tail.
