So im very new to all of this and this is prob a stupid question but here it is. I bought a Ball Python about a month ago, took her (or so they told me) to the vet and he said she was very healthy. She eats every wed. and we have not had any problems with her. Now for the question.... She started shedding today and as she was moving in her cage we noticed 4 little pebble looking things.... 2 are orange looking and 2 are white. The are very small, lumpy and covered in goo. What are they, can they be eggs or something if not what can they be??? HELP!!!!
hello help. miss Texas. but to ansewr your question, if you never saw it you probably wouldnt know, if your this new. congrats on the baby. but the 4 pebble looking thing,I would have to guess is her bowl movements. white are what I call bone matter the orange is the rest. this sounds to me that your snake is probably needing more humidity or bath soaks to correct this.these things should be soft to I have seen runny. and dont freak if she actually takes a bowl movement that looks like a turd this too is part of it.that would be the hair. and remnets that she doesnst use. my ball pythons usually move there bowles when they shed. or when they are in the water. I have mine swim in the tub and make them soak and a little swim and they go really well. good luck. lets see what the rest of the room says. shy
I second that. That sounds just like a typical bowl movement. Durning shedding the skin pulls around the cloca and stimulates the snake to poop some. The White is calcium for the bone matter, orange Iam not to sure but I see it frequently. After a meal or so there should be a normal looking tud that will pass as well. given your description your humidity is just a touch low. the poop should be solid but still slightly soft. If the poop is on the harder side than the snake is a bit dehydrated and need to have the humidity bumped up a bit. If the poop is runny than a vet will have to look at it for possible parasites.
Thanks so much for answering my questions. I have her Humidity anywhere between 45 - 60 on the thermometer... how high should the humidity be?
thats perfect, not higher than 60% unless durning shedding than I like to bump it to 70%. Keep the high humidity duration short or ball pyhtons can get belly rot and other scale problems
