Been a while since I dropped by here, thought I'd drop by and share these with you guys... DH Sunglow finally dropped at 108 days after POS, final count: 8 Hypo Motleys (Mostly broken patterns with a few striped ones) 7 Motleys (Some solid patterns, a few broken patterns, 1-2 striped ones) 6 Hypos 7 Normals 2 still born Motleys (Both solid patterns) 1 still born Normal 31 Total, 2 slugs Total Motleys = 17 out of 31 Hopefully everyone else is having a good season...
Thats amazing thankyou for these pics, your boa's are beautiful and the pics are interesting. Its shocking to think all those fitted inside your female... look at all the different colours aswell lol.
That's a good count with only 1 still born and 2 slugs. Very nice mix you got as well. It's the mess you have to clean up after that's worst
These give live birth Vipers (including rattlesnakes, copperheads, and cottonmouths), boa constrictors, and some North American colubrids such as garter snakes, ribbon snakes, water snakes, earth snakes, and brown snakes. They have yolk sacs within the body, similar to eggs but they basically hatch within the mother then are live birth. There may be others which I dont know about, all the rest are egg layers.
cool! i like the last striped and all the striped ones!! LOL some boids and vipers give birth, along with a few skinks like tiliqua (BTS ) --> thanks for the info bruno! bruno, you never tried breeding your boa? LOL
Yep boa's are oviviparous meaning they develop inside the mother but from a yolk sak (different from mammals as mammals get nutrients from the mother through a placenta). Just wondering... what are slugs? lol.
Thanks guys, nothing like a bunch of baby boas in goo! Slugs are the undeveloped, still borns are the dead ones.

Here are a few post shed pics. Gotta love baby boas, it's like clockwork! They shed, they eat, no muss, no fuss! Hypo Motleys don't look like much as babies, but IMO they become much nicer as they age: I like the light colored Motleys, but prefer the deeper/richer contrast Motleys when producing combos such as Sunglow Motleys and even Supers:

Thanks...the mom is doing great! She is a trooper! She ate already two large rats and shed this morning. She's ready to start recovering her pre-weight. She won't be bred this year though. She'll get this season off and won't be bred again till 12/2010. She bred last year and dropped a nice litter of Sunglows and now this litter. She'll get a year off, pack on some solid weight, grow a bit more and hopefully drop 30-40 babies in 2011 for us. I've got a nice unrelated Sunglow male lined up for her....for 2010/2011.
The babies look even more stunning now that they've shed, don't stop with the pics :lol: Glad the mom is recovering well.

He also produced a Hypo Super Motley called the "Red Devil" which was all red, but unfortunatly was a still born.
