Hey everyone! I think it would be really cool if we shared our iguana pictures and some information about them. It's nice to see other people with healthy iguanas, and especially awesome to see big adults when you have tiny little babies! I'll start. This is Salvador... Salvador is a 6 month old red iguana, although he's about a big as a one year old. He is very feisty, and very skittish around anyone but me. He'll happily take naps on my shoulder though He has a huge appetite and especially loves his squash. Tell me what you think and post your pictures too!!!
he's a great iguana! very nice.. i want to look his colour when he grow up, pretty sure he'll be a great boy!
I had to start another post, my pictures are too big and it wont upload both of them. My girlfriend was petting her head and she fell asleep right in her hand.
She loves her salad I make for her. Eats very well and nutritious, she went to the vet a week ago for a check up and stool sample check. She checked out with a clean bill of health, vet said she is very healthy, active, and weight was perfect.
Ohhh... would you mind sharing your secret? What is in this salad? Salvador is growing like a weed and he's a little bit scrawny. I'd like him to be as chubby as your little cutie!
Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, and Dandelion Greens. Parsnips, Snap Peas, Yellow Squash, Green beans and a small amount of carrots. I mix up 70% greens to 30% veggies. Then I give Cantaloupe and banana as treats. I use a small food processor that chops everything up really fine. I chop everything even the greens and mix it all up in a big freezer bag. I take enough out to last about 3-4 days and thaw it out and keep in the refrigerator. When you freeze the food and then thaw it out it loses the "Thiamine B1" so I bought some Thiamine B1 vitamins and I crush half a pill and sprinkle it over the food every other day. I also do the same with Alfalfa tablets, crush half a pill up and sprinkle it over the food every other day. I feed her the salad in the morning with just Greens and Veggies mixed, along with her calcium, thiamine, and alfalfa supplements. Then in the mid afternoon I give her some Cantaloupe. If I give her Cantaloupe in the morning with the salad she will only eat the Cantaloupe, so I have to separate it from the salad and feed it after she eats her greens. I also recommend getting a spray vitamin. I use "Natures Reptile Vita-Spray". It is an awesome product, keeps her skin very healthy and moist, helps her shed a lot easier!
For being 7 months old I dont think he looks stunted at all. I love his color, very nice green and blue around the head. He looks pretty healthy and seems to be the correct size.
I'm not an iguana expert but I'm sure he's definatly not stunted at all. Looks amazing... really healthy and lovely bright colours must be doing something right.
